Fever, Diarrhoea, Heart Burning, Loss Of Appetite. Outside Food. Remedy?

I am a 26 yo female. I ate some questionable food at a wedding 2 days ago. The day after I developed muscle aches, chills, and a low grade fever of 100.9 which lasted into the next morning. I have had several bouts of diarrhea which has become increasingly darker- and today was black. Yesterday i severe heartburn like pains that came in waves and lasted for about 1.5 hrs. At that time took pepto and repeated it several hours later. I have not had much of an apetite, but have not been vomiting. I dont have health insurance and i am concerned. Thanks.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms can be caused by bacterial infection of gastrointestinal tract due to food poisoning. However black stool (if it is tarry like) is a very serious symptoms and can indicate bleeding from peptic ulcer or even stomach cancer. It is possible that the food you have eaten triggered peptic ulcer bleeding.
Heartburn and pain in upper middle abdomen can also point such diagnose.

That is why I suggest you to visit your doctor as soon as possible. Blood work should be done and in case of low hemoglobin level, gastroscopy performed. Stool tests seems to be also necessary.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
