Child Has Typhoid. Widal Report Shows S.typhi O 1/320. Took Antibiotic. Advice?
My daughter suffering from typhoid. The widat report is as follows. s.typhi o 1/320 h 1/80 ah 1/320 bh negative 1/20 already taken 5 days antibiotic with consultation of doctor. now fever 100f in morning and evening after taking paracitamal 650, fever cleared.what we do pl. YYYY@YYYY .
Typhoid fever requires antibiotic treatment for longer duration and it will be more than 5 days.
In typhoid fever the antibiotic to be continued till the fever subsides completely and after complete disappearance of fever, the antibiotic should be continued for 5 more days.
If there is no or inadequate response to oral antibiotic, intravenous antibiotics to be given for an appropriate duration.
In addition to medication, plenty of oral fluids, soft diet, and adequate rest are very important.
Hello
Your daughters widal report suggests that she is suffering from typhoid and she also responded to antibiotics.
I would suggest you to continue the antibiotic for total 14 days. Symptoms usually subsides within a week in uncomplicated cases but 2 week therapy decreases the chances of recurrence of disease.
Give nutritious food with plenty of water and monitor for temperature and condition of the child.
Wish her early recovery
