Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor, My sister was found to have extra cervical ribs in here nexk/spine recently and she has been suffering to use her righthand, Some of them suggect surgey and some suggest physio, Kindly let us know which is the best on this case, thanks and also pls tell if this is serious , thanks again doc
Being a Physiotherapist I should always recommend to anyone as an exercise only for the betterment. But in certain cases, I should admit that cervical rib needs to be surgically removed as this extra rib leads to compression on the underlying nerves and blood vessels leading to disturbance in the overall physical well being and perform regular activities. If not removed at an early stage then in later stages things might not be the same as now and lead to unnecessary symptoms.
Post-surgical removal of the cervical rib always a Physiotherapy will be helpful to achieve the maximum functions of the limb.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
