Did Having An Extra Cervical Rib Lead To Torticollis?
I am a 14 year old girl who snapped my neck and went to the hospital after playing soccer. They told me I had a torticollis. they took x rays and saw that i had an extra cervical rib. the doctors also said that that happening is a 1 in 500 chance. Did having an extra cervical rib lead to my torticollis? my high school soccer season starts tomorrow and i really dont want to miss any more games. i need to know some stretches and what i can do to make it heal faster.
An extra rib can cause torticollis by irritating the neck muscles during neck movements. I recommend taking Clonazepam or Baclofen to help improve your situation. If the problem reoccurs, I would recommend consulting with a surgeon about surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
