Is It Possible For A Doctor To Remove The Ovaries And Replace Them?
Hi I had a subtotal hysterectomy about 2 years and 4 months ago. In the pathology report they mention salpingo ovariectomy which means removal of fallopian tubes and ovaries. but the Dr. said he left ovaries. is it possible that he rempved them then replaced them? I also did an ultra scan and again showed there were ovaries . am abit confused but those two terms. Thanks M.C
Hai thanks for posting in HMC. It is not possible to replace ovaries. firstly hysterectomy means removal of uterus.Sub total hysterectomy means removal of uterus keeping cervix intact and salpingo oophorectomy means removal of fallopian tube and ovary of the affected side. There are two ovaries, two fallopian tubes.he might have removed only affected ovary and kept other side ovary intact or your pathology report is wrong. Are you sure it was subtotal hysterectomy done ?? If it is so,your pathologist should have mentioned that too in the report. Thank you thank you
