What Are The Side Effects Of Qlaira?

Had hysterectomy + one ovary removed 14 years ago (am now 48). In March this year had other ovary removed due to large cyst. Hot flushes, weight gain and other menopausal symptoms constantly. Worried about taking Qlaira as prescribed. What are the positives and negatives thereof for me?

Hi,

Qlaira is a type of hormonal contraceptive pill which contains two active ingredients namely estradiol valerate and dienogest is used for contraception, heavy menstrual bleeding that is not related to any condition etc. Side effects of Qlaira are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, breast tenderness and enlargement, weight changes, changes in menstrual bleeding, breakthrough bleeding, depression, loss of libido, rise in blood pressure, vaginal thrush, fluid retention, disturbances in liver function, gallstones etc. Most of the side effects are gone away over time when your body will be able to adjust the hormonal levels. If the side effects persist or bother you, then contact with the prescribing doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
