On Diazapam For Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Started Escitalopram. Is It Safe To Taper Off Diazapam Without Side Effects ?
Hi , i have just started taking escitalopram today, and have been on 5mg diazapam for on week to help with anxiety and panic attacks which have been happening for 3 months. Is it safe/wise to take maybe 5mg of diazapam once a day for next 4 weeks then tapper off that dose to half as to make it eaisier for any side effects from lexapro and to stay calmer during the initial transition? Thanks

Diazepam can be safely tapered over the time period that you are mentioning.
Side effects of Escitalopram, invariably appears in initial 2 weeks, if they had to appear. Therefore one can start tapering diazepam at 2 weeks or 3 weeks without any issues. Wish you a sound health
