Rectocele, High Pressures, Rectal Pain That Shoots Through Vaginal Area. Previous Cystocele, Rectocele. Advise?

Have had testing done that show I have a rectocele again (had hysterectomy with cystocele and rectocele repair approx 2 yrs ago) and a manometry that show and I quote my "pressures are through the roof" been having rectal pain that shoots through my vaginal area. It happens when I sit, walk, stand is relieved by resting lying down, It tends to worsen t/o the day, interferes with my day to day routine has put the kabosh on any exercise regime and at times stops me dead in my tracks and take s my breath away the pain is so severe. What could be the cause of the high pressure and symptoms. I do not have constipation but I have to splint my perineum when having a BM?????

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Any cause that will increase the abdominal pressure can lead to rectocele etc.
These causes are like chronic cough, straining during defecation, lifting heavy weights etc.
As you previously also had the same complaint, improper repair, existing muscle weakness etc. can lead to recurrence of rectocele.
If the rectocele is minimal, kegel's exercises etc. will help.
In advanced cases better to go for surgery to get relieved of the symptoms.

Hi, You had surgery for hysterectomy, cystocele, and rectocele repair 2 years ago. pain in pelvic and rectal area.
It could be recurance of the rectocele, or urinary tract infection, or a stone in the urinary tract, i advise you to consult a urologist for diagnosis. Thank you.
