Should I Have An MRI From Start When Detected With Large Bake's Cyst, Meniscus And Torn Knee Cap?
I was diagnose with patellofemoral pain syndrome, by a x-ray. I complained 3 mos. of severe pain! Nothing worked, meds ice packs etc. Finally, after being denied of MRI twice, I was finally approved to have a MRI, that resulted in a large bake's cyst, meniscus and torn knee cap! My question is, Should I have had a MRI from start!
Hi. Patellofemoral pain syndrome would have the start of the problem, which in turn might have lead the the backer's cyst and all finding you have now on the MRI. Far early MRI might have not detected this as it would not have been there. So it is alright to say one would have gone for MRI from Start. Clinical diagnosis also has a great part in diagnosis and treatment management. I would suggest to go for the further management as advised by your treating Orthopedic Surgeon ASAP. All the best.
Hi...usually the xray is the first line of investigation for joint and bone conditions... followed by ct or mri depending upon the results and clinical evaluation and your doctor's suspicion of a particular condition...usually a bakers cyst and miniscal tear can be detected clinically...
