My husband has sleep apnea and is going to have a sleep study soon .He went to the doctor today and his blood oxygen is very low ..he has no cold ..lungs sounded fine ect .. They had him put on oxygen and Monday are going to try and speed up the sleep study .. So he is asleep now with oxygen ..he woke up a few minutes ago and was trying to talk on the phone while holding the TV remote .. Saying the most random words ? Confused ..but then came around and spoke fine could answer questions ect ..said he thought he was dreaming .. It was scarey ! Should I be concerned ? Or just let him go ahead and sleep and see if he does this again ?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Talking or walking while sleeping is a phenomenon which is seen in many healthy people. During the act of talking or walking the person is not awake and is unaware about his/her surroundings. The person dues not remember about the episode thereafter. There is nothing to worry about this episode. You can go ahead with sleep studies to figure out the cause of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is common in over-weight and obese individuals because of accumulation of fat around the neck. This narrows te air entry passage and thus causes apnea.
