Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have had a bad cold - the runny nose and eyes has stopped but im left with a very husky voice and tight chest. I have a bad headache and feel very tired. when I first came down with the cold I had a titchy throat and roof of mouth. do i need to go to the doctors for antibiotics?
If you are having husky voice with tight chest, and titchy throat, I advise to get your mouth and throat examined by your doctor to rule out bacterial infection. You might be experiencing laryngitis which is often associated with cold. Usually, it will subside on its own. However, should rule out bacterial infection before starting antibiotics.
Meanwhile, I advise to: - take a good oral hygiene - apply anti-septic oral spray (you may find them as over the counter) - I usually advise my patients to gargle with water and salt and to - use 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of honey on daily basis (especially early in the morning) - consume more fluids (water, juices, soups, etc.)
Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
