Hi,
Dripping of saliva during sleep suggests thats you are breathing from your mouth while asleep. Snoring is sign of airway diseases like
Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
These are more common in obese and those with diabetes, hypertension and metabolic disorders. In this, the oxygenation of blood is reduced with resultant effect on body's physiology. If untreated it can progress affecting the
pulmonary circulation and resultant increasing strain on heart.
It can be diagnosed by Sleep study, where the number of Apneas and Hypopnea are counted and
oxygen saturation in blood is monitored in sleep and Continuous
Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) / BiPAP usage is titrated for treatment purposes.
One of the most important aspects of management shall be weight reduction.
It is also important to rule out Upper Airway causes of Obstruction like Adenoids or Polyps.an ENT reference for that might be helpful.
Lipid Profile, Thyroid Profile, HRCT Chest, 2DEcho, ENT reference are usual prerequisites for a sleep study.
Any More Queries are welcome,
Thank You,
Regards.
