I am in29 years old female.i hav a son of 10 years.i have been suffering from lower back and legs pain since last 6 years.MRI SCAN report was given that L4-L5 minimally bulged.now a days i am getting unbearable pain and i cant even sleep.is this pain only due to the MRI reported problem or will there be any other problem.ASO titre report was positive.now i am taking GABANTIN 100,MECGLA,TRYPTOMER-10MG.Even then i am not getting relief.i am not getting sleep even after taking tryptomer because of severe pain.do i need to go for any other check ups.please suggest me.and also are these medicines relevant and how do they work?

Hi.. You have Intervertebral disc prolapse at L4-L5 level leading to compression of the nerve root causing the radiating pain. Ideally for a minimal bulge the first line of management is medications, rest and later physiotherapy for initial 6 months. If pain persists then steroid injections are given and if the pan still persists then last to consider surgery( disc removal). Ans to your Qns: even a minimal bulge sometimes can cause severe symptoms like this due to inflammation and swelling around the nerve roots. considering your age If medical management has no sign of improvement then i would suggest to have a steroid injection which can cause pain relief.
