My 21 month old was dagnosed with ear infections and a throat infection 5 days ago and put on amoxil, she is still running a fever of 100.2 and developed a cough and runny nose. Refuses to eat or drink and only has had 2 wet diapers today, should i take her to the er?
Hello, It is advisable to take her to the ER . There should not be fever after 5 days of antibiotics . The upper respiratory tract infections usually go by the antibiotics as the organisms are the common streptococcus or staphylococcus. But if there is still fever that indicates the infection is not treated and you need to change the antibiotics. Or look for a source of infection. In addition you should give her paracetamol so that the fever comes down as high fever could be dangerous for the child. In doubt do reply.
