Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Varicose Veins In Legs
I had robotic radical hysterectomy for uterine cancer and 44 lymph nodes removed as well, back in January. I now get abnormal swelling in my left leg which had a blood clot 9 years ago in. It swells and is very painful and it is interferring with walking now, I also have bad vericose veins in both legs. Please help with this issue. Thank you.
Hi, your question suggests that you had Deep vein thrombosis in the left leg 9 years ago? If yes, then it could be a recurrence of the same thing again. In the light of the recent surgery, it could also be Lymphedema, which is a swelling due to blockage of lymph vessels. You should get a Color Doppler done to clarify whether there is DVT or not. Either way, you need to keep your limbs elevated for most of the time of the day and wear Compression stockings Class II whenever you are standing or walking. You can also start Tab Daflon twice a day for a month to decrease the problem. Take care and feel free to share the report with us on the 'Ask a Specialist' icon. Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
