I have swollen ankles, my feet also become swollen and sometimes feel really tight as though they will split when this happens I also get a few itchy hives of some parts of my body. My ankles started swelling yesterday and today I have a couple of hives this has happened before but then goes away, I don't know why this is happening as it may last for a day or sometimes for a week or more

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM.
There are few most common causes of ankle swelling. It can be related to your hives as a part of allergic reaction but much common are heart, circulatory and kindey disease. So you should check these organs first. If this happens afte rlong standing then this is probably resulting from venous insufficiency and yous hsould consult vascular surgeon. Till that try to avoid long standing, lay with elevated legs, or use some of elastic compresses. Wish you good health.
