Tested Positive For G6pd At Birth, Has Fever. Given Tylenol, Still No Gone Down. What To Do ?
hi my child has tested positive for g6pd at birth and we were told we couldn t give him any NSAIDS. However, he has a fever and ibuprofen has always worked best for my other child. I have given my child tylenol tonight and the fever is not breaking. I really want to try Ibuprofen because that has always done the trick with my other son. Please help, what can I do.
in your child's condition we cant experiment with lot of drugs as it will accelerate the hemolysis(breakdown of rbc's). hence i would advise you to start with -cold tepid sponging. -if fever increases over 100 degree F then you can use Meftal-P syrup. -give him lots of fluids,it'll help in increasing the circulation and prevent dehydration from the fever.
thank you, wishing you good health
