Treated With Antibiotics For Periorbital Cellulitis. Streptococcal Infections, Contagious. Prognosis?
Hello, Doctor Grief. I have a friend who is in the hospital being treated with IV antibiotics for Periorbital Cellulitis. She has been in the hospital for 5 days now, but the infection started about 2 weeks ago. They are talking about putting in a PICC line and keeping her for 2-3 more days, then sending her home and still continuing treatment. They think she has strep in her face, I am wondering if she is still contagious, and what your prognosis might be at this point?
Hi Thanks for writing to health care magic. Yes she is contagious. But using simple techniques like gloves and handwashing could prevent spread. She should recover with antibiotics Wishing you speedy recovery Regards Dr Arun
