I am very familiar with strep throat. I have very enlarged palatine tonsils. However, over the last couple of days I have experienced a great amount of grief and loss of appetite. I haven t eaten in about three days. But, I have drank water. When I attempted to eat I experienced a significant amount of pain around my palatine tonsils , lingual tonsils , and hard and soft pallet. It hurts really bad. Not the typical strep throat- whereas it feels like my throat is on fire and gets worst at night. It hurts when I open my mouth, and makes attempting to eat that much harder because food aggravates it. What can I use to cure this?
You may have muscle spasm as well apart from the underlying inflammation. You have to take anti inflammatories, probably injectable also. Repeated streptococcal infections demands a tonsillectomy. Regular anti septic gargles will help
