What Does Periventricular White Matter Changes Means In MRI?
MY 14 year old son is having migraines and had a MRI done which showed Periventricular white matter changes...mild of uncertain significance. He is 1 year post treatment for T-cell lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy and radation from 2007 until 2010. What does this result mean and what was the cause and how will this affect him and his recovery?
The periventricular white matter changes might be due to the combined effect of chemotherapy and radiation taken for T cell lymphoma. It is a probable early degenerative change in the brain and does not predispose to any serious condition. This may have no serious effect on his cognitive functions but to correctly assess his condition it is important to discuss with a neurologist who will perform a complete clinical examination.
