What Does "Scattered White Matter Signal Changes" Mean In An MRI?
I have been extremly forgetful. The PA I saw sent me for an MRI with and without contrast. The MD that read the xrays said in his report.....Scattered white matter signal changes most likely secondary to chronic ischemic changes. no evidence of hemorrhage. What does all this mean?
Scattered white matter signal changes in your case might be due to decreased blood flow in the small arteries in the brain. It is not a serious finding and may be seen in those with diabetes, hypertension and also in advancing age. You may need to take medications to prevent any decrease in blood flow to the brains. The changes seen need to be correlated to your symptoms.
