What Does The Blood Test Regarding Pernicious Anemia Indicate?
I've just read my recent bloodwork from a medical lab with Gamma GT "H" at 171. Hematology returns low scores on RBC (4.16) Hemaglobin (126) & Hematocrit (0.39). My doctor was surmising about possible pernicious anemia. Doctor is new to me, I did not think to tell him that I have recently been told by a pharmacist that my 20-yr useage of Tylenol #1's is dangerous. Any insight you can offer? I am a 56-yr-old male, 20-yr survivor of ruptured brain aneurysm, using numerous psychotropic medications. I have been taking the Tylenol #1s for headaches and persisten backaches [weak left lower limb inhibits proper walking gait, result of surgery to right temporal lobe]

Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows: a. Tylenol is known to cause liver injury and also gastritis. b. You are mildly anemic and based on your RBC count, possible macrocytes are possible.. c. Get your reticulocyte count and serum Vit B12 assay done. No test of pernicious anemia is done as of now. Based on these values, further opinion can be given. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
