What Is Causing Erythema Ab Igne On My Upper Thighs When Under The Sun?

I experienced erythema ab igne on my upper thighs and stomach after sitting out in the sun. My skin was covered and I only discovered the skin rash when I came inside to go to the bathroom. I don't use a laptop, heating pads, or sit in front of fires. Are there other causes of this? For example, I read that hypothyroidism can cause this condition.
