Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. Fever blisters are most often seen on the border of the lip and consist of three to five vesicles. Over the next three to five days, the vesicles become pustular, ulcerative, and then crust over. Symptoms are usually most severe 8 hours after the outbreak. If you see your doctor for your mouth sores, he or she may prescribe a pain medication, anti-inflammatory drug, or steroid gel. If your mouth sores are a result of a virus, bacteria, or fungus, your doctor might provide a medication to treat the infection. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
