Will IUD Removal Help Backache And RTI?

Hi I had mirena IUD inserted just over a week ago on the 4th day of my cycle. Two days later I started to get a head cold which has now turned to upper respiratory tract infection, and for last two days I am doubled over and can't walk due to bad back ache. I have had mirena before and around 6 month mark got it removed as same back ache was becoming more and more regular. Going to doctor today, should I get it removed?

Hello,
You can possibly wait for some more time to see your body gets used to IUD. However, if the pain is too bothersome, consider IUD removal and switch to another method of contraception.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
