Hi there!
Welcome to healthcare magic ! Thanks for writing!

Does anyone in your family suffer from any allergy or asthma? Your symptoms sound like asthma. Asthma is a respiratory condition which can be triggered by an allergy to anything at all. in your case, cold air could be the trigger. Cold air can cause narrowing of the airways in sensitive individuals , and cause difficulty in breathing. The syrup contains an anti-allergen, as a result of which your symptoms reduce, even if temporarily. You need to consult a doctor, who will advise blood test and breathing tests to assess the severity. And then, medications may be prescribed.

The following conservative measures can be taken:

Wear a scarf over nose and mouth.
Avoid exposure to direct blasts of cold air.
Use medication appropriately.
Keep quick relief rescue inhalers close by.
If exercising, try to do it indoors.

Take care!

Hello Karthi,
Bro Zedex cough syrup conatins terbutaline sulphate 1.25 mg, bromhexine hydrochloride 4 mg, guaiphenesin 50 mg, menthol 2.5 mg/5 mL (as per MIMS) and you can see that antihistamine and bronchodilator both are present.
It is therefore you have developed allergic asthma or allergic hyperreactive airways that helps when you take the syrup.
You will need a full allergy testing (aeroallergens) and a pulmonary function test to see what the allergies are and if you have developed asthma.
Specific recommendations regarding antihistamines and inhalers can then be given.

Thanks.
