Increased BP After Hysterectomy, Had Ovaries Removed. Could Surgery Or Menopause Be The Cause? Suggestions?

I had a complete hysterectomy January 2012...also ovaries removed. I am not on HRT but take some natural remedies. My blood pressure has increased since the surgery and my doctor is considering putting me on BP meds. Could the surgery/menopause have anything to do with BP? I have never smoked/ do not drink/ have 1 cup of coffee per day and am retired/ 55 years old...20 lbs overweight.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Yes, estrogen hormone is having some role in maintaining the circulatory system of the body.
Your weight, age may also be contributed to high blood pressure.
So better to start anti-hypertensives as adviced by your doctor.
Decreasing weight, life style modifications also help in maintaining the blood pressure.
Decrease salt intake, take sufficient rest.
