MR Screening of whole spine done with dedicated spinal coil with a SAG T2W sequence.

There is straightening of lumbar spine likely due to muscle spasm.

Disc dessicative changes are seen are seen at C5-6, L4-5 and L5-S1 levels.

C5-6 disc shows central and left paracentral disc protrusion causing obliteration of anterior subarachnoid space and compression of exiting nerve root.

L4-5 and L5-S1 discs show diffuse disc bulges with thecal sac indentation and bilateral lateral recess stenosis.

Vertebral bodies are normal in height signal intensities. Alignment of the vertebrae is normal.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us

According to report, you have degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.

1.There is straightening of lumbar spine, most likely it is due to muscle spasm.

2.There are disc dessicative changes(means loss of water) at C5-6, L4-5 and L5-S1 levels.

3.At C5-6 level, disc shows central and left paracentral disc protrusion causing obliteration of anterior subarachnoid space and compression of exiting nerve root.

4.At L4-5 and L5-S1 level, disc show diffuse disc bulge with thecal sac indentation and bilateral narrowing of lateral neural foramen .

Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first.
Surgery should be the last option.
There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief.

Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon.

Get well soon.
Take Care
