What Causes Spinal And Abdominal Pain With Posterior Disc Protrusion?
i have a5mm posterior disc protrusion and it is causing moderate midline compression of the dura and spinal cord, it is in the t8-9 area of my spine. I have pain there and when I walk and my heel hits the ground it seems as if it travels outside of the spine to the area I injured, I also hurt in the front of my stomach just below my pinky when the index finger is placed on the sternum. Could all of this be caused by the disc protrusion?
Back pain may be related to protruded inter vertebral disc in thoracic spine. At T 8-9 level, there is 5 mm inter vertebral disc protrusion in posterior direction which is compressing spinal cord and dura. You may need ultrasound of abdomen due to pain in stomach area.
Majority of degenerative disc disease patients are benefited by conservative treatment in the form of physiotherapy, analgesics and muscle relaxants. Surgery is advised in non responding cases. You need proper evaluation by a neurologist.
